Actually a FO and a WIP….
On September I participated the Spice of Life CAL and I loved it!
It was exactly what I needed at that time.
I made my blanket small. I wanted to have it on my feet to keep me warm while knitting and maybe (a gigantic maybe) use later it on a crib.
Anyway.
On that blanket I used my amigurumi stash yarns which are acrylics and, as you see, extremely colorful!
The idea of the CAL was to practice on new stitches.
Mission accomplished!
Even though on some rows I ended up with much more stiches than supposed that makes my blanket saggy in the middle, I love to cuddle with it!
Now, remember when I told you that F’s soft spot is color?
Do you want to guess what he ask me to make him?
A blanket!
Not just any blanket.
A colorful blanket for when he falls asleep on the couch.
Have I told you that F is a tall guy? Almost 2 meters tall!
That means that his blanket could easily fit a double bed!
And that’s a lot of crocheting!
Luckily his demands didn’t include fancy stitches.
Half double crochets and every second row change the color.
Of course every time he chooses the following color 😉
It’s like living with a big baby!
I must admit though, it’s fun!
I love that he supports me and motivates me to crochet more!
(Putting aside the -I’m cold. When will my blanket finish?- part!)
This fabric magazine holder came very handy.
I put in there those big skeins and they unravel without me chasing them!
It even have pockets for my hook and scissors!
It was my sister’s Christmas gift! Great, right?
I’ll keep you posted on this project since it will take a while until becoming a FO!
Have a great weekend everyone!
That is one huge challenge but a lovely one to keep you occupied during these winter nights.
It sure will! I wish to finish it before the weather gets warm…
Good plan and good luck with that!
The small one looks great! The big one will be your masterpiece!
Thank you Maria!
That’s going to be one big colourful blanket! What a great idea to use the magazine holder as a project bag 🙂
Thank you Jem!
My sister, who isn’t a knitter, thought of that! She gave it to me in just the right time! It helps a lot!
Love the blanket – such a splash of color! And what a great way to practice new stitches! Your F is adorable!!! How amazing is that he chooses color for each section?!! The idea with fabric magazine holder is genius – I need one of those! Happy Sunday!!!
I don’t admit it often, but he is such a sweetheart! He deserves more than a blanket. The magazine holder is great. I always chased my yarn around the house! How hadn’t we thought it before??
A challenge indeed but definitely a worthwhile one – it’s going to be wonderfully colourful and snuggly!
Thank you Carie!
Don’t our loved ones deserve our best?
(Please remind me I said that when I hit rock bottom!)
what colour!! I love the one completed….and the challenge of the new! It’s really a perfect wintery crochet…as it grows, it will keep YOU warm as well!!! And there is simply nothing better than a requested project that you know will be loved. Happy stitching!
Thank you! It’s true, working on something that you know in advance that it will be appreciated, takes half the burden away.
Wow…just love all the colors! So bright and cheesy!
It’s very colorful! 17 different colors so far!
Wow that’s going to take you a while. It’s going to be gorgeous and cosy when you’re finished though. I really like your Spice of Life blanket too
Thank you so much! I’m trying to finish it as soon as possible. I hope my man will let me snuggle with him and his blanket!
