Summer should have more than 24 hours a day. Anybody else feeling like that or it’s just me? Summer is busy. Having a full day job, feeling so tired of the heat, running around to keep up with everything, even trying to sneak in some free time to go swimming, it’s exhausting. And the garden?
Oh, the garden! I love being sustainable. I enjoy our vegetables more than anything. All of us do. Even our turtles 😉 And I can’t wait for the pears, plums and figs to be ready for harvest. But those weeds! They are so winning me by this point. And the mosquitoes! Sigh.
My happy time is when I knit. I’m knitting a bit after work, while F is watering and I’m holding Naya and late at night. I’m very content about my knitting time. I’m not that much about the finished product.
I steam blocked my Missoni Maxi Skirt today.
I haven’t tried steam blocking before and didn’t know what to expect. I went slow and was very happy with the result. The fabric was flat and soft. But when I tried it on I realised that it had expanded very much. I was stepping on it even though I was wearing my high heels! I need to revisit it and rip off a few inches. Also I need to find a cropped top to wear with my skirt. Shopping feels like an errand to me at this point of my life.
As for our house progress, we currently are in pause. The roof will be done in the next weeks and after that we will start again around October. It’s too hot now for the next steps.
Hi there! I’m just checking in to let you know that everything is ok. Thank you all for the emails. Your concern has truly touched me! You are surely the sweetest and I have missed you so much!
I know that it took me longer than expected to get my blogging mojo back but creativity hadn’t abundant me!!
Knitting has been happening! And lots of it actually! And outdoors as you can see!
I have some wips (maybe more than I can actually handle) and ideas keep coming! It’s knitting crazy around here and I freaking love it!!!!
I’ll try to be back with a WIP or maybe a FO post….
Kisses to all!
A slightly different post of my life in photos since I didn’t took photos some days 😛
As you can tell, we are very excited about our snails! We went a couple of times more at the mountain to gather more. Also found another specie and placed them in a storage box. Watching the snails walking up was truly stunning! I’m so amazed with their acrobatic skills! Everything is going great. We even had our first eggs!!!!!!
Crafting is going great also!
Finished a cardigan for little V. It will be her baptism present. The colors were chosen by her parents. Blue is the color of her eyes. Also they are hoping for a boy soon to be the next that wears it 🙂
In case it looks familiar to you, it’s because it’s the second time I knit this pattern (first time here in Greek though)
The Spice of life CAL part 3 is completed. And as I write, part 4 is about 5 rows from finishing.
This week I had another health check. This time the doctors think I might also have a thyroid anomaly. I’m going to have an extant blood test tomorrow. Wish me luck!
Hello my friends!
It’s been a busy busy week….!
After the flood two days before, F’s dad took us snail hunting! Yep, snails!!!!! We went up the mountain and found snails half-bared in the ground. Oh, the joy! I really enjoyed climbing up the hill, the smells of the plants and wet soil and the promise of eating delicious snails….! I’m waiting for the next rain…..
I don’t know what is happening with my dog but lately she is weirdly obedient and calm! Maybe she decided to grow up and stop acting like a puppy. Not that I’m complaining!
Did you know that after you pick up snails you have to let them eat row flour or raw pasta for a couple of days so that their intestine is clean for consuming?! As we were through that stage, having the snails in a bucket, F had the wonderful idea of building a small snailfarm!!!!
Those little flowers open after the sunset and smell great. Also since I have plenty of free time (sarcastic speaking), I signed up to a pilates class except the yoga one that I attend already! Have to work on that alignment and the tension on my shoulders, right?
We are working like crazy on the snail house! I haven’t even noticed that our white bougainvillea has blossoms.
Ta da! Our snail house is ready! We found a polyester tank from work, opened windows but installed sieves for insects (and for keeping the snails inside their home), filled it with soil and moved it under the trees for shade.
The snails are in! All 12 of them! So far everything is going as it should according to all the bibliography F has read! Yep! He has done some serious research! Well? What do you think? Will it work? After working in a fishfarm for 10 years, should I consider a change of career????
Finally found somebody to take photos for my greek crisis tank top! Thank you S! Now I can write a proper post! I was so happy for all the kind and enthusiastic comments about my top!
My sister got a tattoo! And she wants to know if you like it….
Back home from the port of Sami. I was like one the tourists that took pictures of the island that will spend their vacation….! I was laughing with myself at this thought!
I won three skeins of super soft yummy yarn!!!!!! Detailed post about it this week….
I love cool autumn sunsets! Actually I love sunsets of all seasons but being so eager about autumn made me feel ecstatic!
It’s been raining heavily all day. The roads have turned into rivers and lots of houses have flooded. The power was off for 4 hours. Fortunately we had no problems. F had his mind on those new chickens that are still the outcasts of the pack and are very afraid to go inside the coop with the others so they stay outside getting all wet. Stupid chickens with stupid hair! Don’t they look like they’re wearing Halloween wigs?
Porto Atheras. The sky was clean from clouds but everything is still soaking wet so we took Naya a ride with the car instead of a walk.
We visited a monastery with the most fairy-like oak forest near by! A great place for a photoshoot for my greek crisis tank top! If only I had a decent photographer…. F tried but he doesn’t have a clue about using the light or the background so there isn’t much to show you….
My grandpa fishing! Fishing for him is like knitting for me! We can do only that and feel happy, complete and serene!
Waxing the wooden needles! The knitting season is about to begin so everything has to be ready!
Just checking your posts people!!!! 😉
What a great way to drink your coffee and at the same time learn how to say “good morning” in so many languages!
Playing cards with my sweet sweet grandma! Another precious moment to keep….
A distant night view of Acropolis!
Back in Athens for the elections.
I didn’t miss the chance of walking around the hill of Acropolis with my family!
How was your week?
Working on my boho vest. Such an easy and relaxing project! I don’t think that my yarn is enough so a lot of improvising will happen on the way….
Have I mentioned that my grandparents are here? I’m so grateful to have them here even for a few days….
I asked my grandma for the recipe of her rizogalo (=rice pudding) and after I ate the whole pot, with a sprinkle of cinnamon of course!!!
Run some chemical tests at work. How fun were those colors? I love to see the colors develop in just minutes!
Joined the Spice of life CAL after reading this post by Sandra from the Cherry Heart blog! 🙂
It will be my very first CAL and I’m super excited about it! I gathered those leftovers from my stash and I’m ready to roll! My blanket is going to be so colorful! 😀 I just can’t wait for the 22th of September when it starts! Anyone else wants to join us? It’s a great excuse for buying some new yarn or reduce your stash….
I went kitesurfing with the most perfect wind ever, but after 5 minutes of fun, a jellyfish stung me!!! All those years, I had never seen a jellyfish here! Didn’t even heard about anyone else getting stung! It also got me on both my legs, that evil creature!!
Sunrise at work after a rainy night! Loved the cool morning breeze! Winter is just around the corner….!
I’ve been knitting since December (!!!!) this slouchy cardigan as a gift for X. I’m not even half way through because it’s a boring boring project which I turn to only when I don’t have something else on my needles! It’s plain stockinette stitch and I just don’t like the feel of that yarn! I’m seriously considering frogging it and start it over. I’m thinking eyelets for more light effect or should I tried some granny squares joined? What do you think???
